SAWA is a Japanese electro-pop singer from a suburb outside Tokyo. Since entering the music industry in 2006 she has released five mini-albums, two releases a year since 2008, with the latest one Ai ni Iku yo being released on April 7th, 2010. She is a part of the NEWCOME entertainment offices, part of Sony Music Artists Inc. (SMA), and is signed to the Sony Music Entertainment sub-label EPIC Records.

Information

SAWA lives in the suburbs, about one hour from Tokyo. Her mother made the pitch-perfect girl pick up the violin at the tender age of four, and by age 10, she took up the piano out of her own will. Later, influenced by favorite artists such as m-flo, Jazztronik and FreeTEMPO, she began writing and performing music based on club music. At the same time, she proceeded to college to make her childhood dream come true – to become a teacher. She acquired the license for a high school English teacher, and taught at a local high school, although only for three months.

SAWA seized the chance in 2006, when she participated in a club event in Yokohama that she thought was an audition (which wasn't one). Her transparent yet characteristic, miraculous voice, as well as her fresh and cute presence that has never been seen in other club music singers in the past, she caught the attention of many music creators. During this time SAWA began working with Front Men Entertainment under the name SK-V. Through the partnership this name changed from SK-V to SK5 and finally to KOUCHI. Titles thought to have been recorded under this label are: "Sakamichi", "Merry-Go-Round", "talking", "happiness", and "In The Music".

On May 1st, 2008 she participated as the vocalist in "Discovery", produced by Yukihiro Fukutomi. The song was used as the opening theme song of PSP game Nippon no Asoko de. One month later, on June 18th, she made her indies debut with COLORS, a mini-album produced by Hanzawa Takeshi (FreeTEMPO). It debuted at #8 on the Japanese iTunes Store's albums chart. It has also stayed in the top 3 for three weeks since release in the dance music chart, already showing signs of a major breakout.

In the following year, SAWA made her major label debut through Sony Music Entertainment's sub-label, EPIC Records, with the mini-album I Can Fly on July 22nd. Her second mini-album of 2009 titled Swimming Dancing was released on November 25th. I Can Fly had commercial tie-ins to the MBS TV fashion program DRESS as well as a summer commercial for Honda. SAWA's first release of 2010, a mini-album called Ai ni Iku yo is set to be released on April 7th, 2010. This release will see her working with producers Hisashi Nawata, Jazzin'park, Ookubo Jun'ya (ANA) and RAM RIDER.

Miyu Nagase (長瀬 実夕, Nagase Miyu) is a Japanese singer, guitarist and a former member of all-girls J-pop band ZONE which disbanded in 2005

Biography

She was born on May 20, 1988, and is from Hokkaido.

As a young child, Miyu loved to sing. By third grade, she decided to take her singing abilities seriously and enrolled at Studio RunTime, a children’s school for the performing arts. In 1998, she was selected as one of the final four members to be in the pop band ZONE. Because ZONE was a creation of Studio RunTime who had deep ties with Sony Music Entertainment of Japan, the band was able to make a high-profile debut in 2000 at the “Sapporo Lilac Festival”.

Mr. Ominami Tadayuki, a representative of Sony Records, noticed that the crowd reaction to the debut concert was particularly enthusiastic. At this point, ZONE was strictly a dance group. Following his belief that ZONE had the makings of a hit, Mr. Ominami watched a LIVE video of the band playing with instruments at the "KomeKome Klub" and felt that, due to the overabundance of dance groups, ZONE had the makings of a true pop sensation IF they could play instruments as well as sing and dance.

With the release of their third single, secret base ~kimi ga kureta mono~, ZONE became a bona fide pop sensation in Japan. Miyu's guitar skills were rapidly improving and, by the time of their final single, Egao Biyori, ZONE fans had no doubt, whatsoever, that she could hold her own with her instrument (typically a Fender guitar), as well as with her already accomplished skills as a singer.

Miyu released two solo singles in December 2004: Just 4 your Luv (2004.12.1) Snowy Love (2004.12.15) On February 23, 2005, she released Luv & love CLIPS ~from N.Y.~. This shows her makings of Just 4 Your Luv and Snowy Love in New York. Also, her sites around N.Y. including her singing Amazing grace.

ZONE disbanded on April 1, 2005. They remain a beloved force in Japanese pop music, due to the high production values of their singles and the unabashed charm of its members.

Miyu also released a single with the Nagisa no All Stars in August 2006: Taiyo no Take Off / Kimi wa Boku no Aozora.

On October 10, 2007, Miyu released a fourth single: Key ~Yume Kara Samete~. This was her first release under a new label, CAM Entertainment. On November 21, 2007, she released her first solo album: Gateway to Tomorrow.

On February 13, 2008, she released her fifth single: Rose. On May 21, 2008, she released her sixth single: Akane. this was the day after her birthday, May 20. Also, one of the theme songs for the drama Mama no Kamisama.

On June 27, she will on her first acting role on Mama no Kamisama on the final episode. The show has been using Nagase's latest release, "Akane," as its theme song. Nagase will play a nurse who deals with Aota's character, who is hospitalized due to anxiety.
