Yui Makino (牧野由依 ,Makino Yui) (born January 19, 1986 in Tokyo, Japan) is a seiyū, actress and singer.
Yui Makino took up the piano at a tender age of four. Her piano play was discovered by movie director Shunji Iwai when she was only 7 years old. Later, between ages 8 to 17, she played piano solos at three of his movies such as Love Letter. Yui made her debut as a singer in 2005 with “Omna Magni”, produced by Yoko Kanno and the ending theme song of TV anime Soseino Aquarion. In April the same year, she also made her debut as a voice actress, starring as heroine Sakura in Tsubasa Chronicle on NHK Educational TV. In 2005, Yui released “Amrita”, the theme song of movie Tsubasa Chronicle: Torikagono Kunino Himegimi, as well as “Undine”, the opening theme of TV Tokyo anime ARIA the ANIMATION coupled with its inserted song “Symphony”. It marked #25 on the Oricon chart. In 2006, she released two songs from another TV Tokyo anime ARIA the NATURAL, namely theme song “Euphoria” and inserted song “Amefuribana”. They were released on one product and marked #18 on the Oricon chart. In 2007, Yui was invited to represent Japan at the Japan-China cultural exchange event. In 2008, Yui released single “Spirale”, opening theme of TV Tokyo anime ARIA the ORIGINATION. Coupled with the anime’s insert song “Yokogao”, the single marked #20 on the Oricon chart. She also performed her first solo concert at the Fuchuno Mori Geijutsu Gekijo Wien Hall in Tokyo. At this performance, all songs were accompanied by her own piano play. Yui Makino released her second album Makino Yui. in March 2008. The album marked high of #22 on the Oricon chart. She also graduated from Tokyo College Of Music (piano major) in the same month.
